Buffs and Debuffs

What it is

Open Buff Guide to learn what a timed status does. Check Active Buffs to see what currently affects you.

A status name is not a promise of every effect its name suggests. Evasion is a visible status without damage dodge. Precision, Arcane Power, Life Drain and Thorns Aura have no additional critical-hit, power, healing-on-hit or reflection behavior. Lucky Star adds Luck but does not change the ordinary ability chance roll. Use the behavior table below when deciding what the status actually provides.

Quick facts

  • Ordinary stack limit: 5.
  • Might per stack: 1.5 attack damage.
  • Fury per stack: 0.6 attack speed.
  • Fortify per stack: 2 armor.
  • Vitality per stack: 2 maximum health.
  • Featherfoot per stack: 3 safe fall distance.

Pictures show a captured example. Your pets, rewards and timers can change.

How to start

Open Pet Hub > Buff Guide or /pets buffs. Read Active Buffs before and after an ability succeeds. Helpful and harmful categories organize the reference. The reference grid itself does not grant a buff. Open Ability Codex to find the action that applies the effect and the duration supplied by that ability.

Do not confuse permanent equipment with a timed buff. An attachment can change pet XP while staying attached indefinitely. A Might status expires. Likewise, equipping a pet does not create an always-on set of combat attributes. Temporary statuses arrive from successful ability effects or Super Ability support.

Steps

  1. Read the ability that applies the desired status and activate its pet.
  2. Fill any required family resource, then perform the listed trigger.
  3. Open Buff Guide and read Active Buffs to check the status, stacks and remaining timer.
  4. Compare the effect with the behavior table. Attribute values are units per stack, not universal damage percentages.
  5. Let the timer finish, or desummon the companion to remove its attached temporary statuses.
  6. If an expected status disappears in a restricted region, check ability restrictions before repeating the trigger.

What can go wrong

A buff cannot be applied to a missing or dead target. The ability that grants it still needs a valid trigger, unlocked rarity, cooldown, meter and chance result. Opening Buff Guide does not bypass any of those requirements. A target-only debuff also does not appear in your own Active Buffs list merely because you applied it to an enemy.

Ordinary repeated applications add stacks up to 5. Some abilities specify their own exact stack refresh or cap, so the usual cap is not a promise that every effect reaches it. Timer handling depends on the application. Read the active timer rather than adding together every duration you remember seeing.

Worked example

Use your Pebble Whelp for this example.

Might supplies 1.5 attack-damage attribute units per stack and applies Strength for its duration. Fury supplies 0.6 attack-speed attribute units per stack and applies Haste. These are different statuses with different effects. Neither should be described as a universal percentage bonus to all damage.

When Super Ability support applies Might, the support window comes from the pet's rarity setting. That temporary status is independent of your skill’s own Super Ability duration. If it expires, the pet has not lost a permanent upgrade. Its timed support has ended. Reopen Active Buffs to check the new state.

More to know

Buff expiry removes the relevant bonus and side effect. Replacing or desummoning a companion clears its pet-associated statuses. Region suppression clears pet ability effects through the restricted-region cleanup path. Other independent effects need not share a timer simply because their icons look similar.

Rejuvenation has an ordinary repeated-healing path and an exact authored-healing path. The latter uses its stated rate without adding another regeneration layer. Inferno Aura and Frost Aura affect nearby non-player living targets. Magnetism attracts drops. It is not a promise that an inventory can accept more items than it has space for.

Your questions

Why is a status absent from Active Buffs?

Its application failed, it affected another target, it expired, or the companion's effects were cleared.

Does Evasion dodge damage?

No. Evasion currently functions as a named status without a damage-dodge effect.

Does Lucky Star guarantee ability procs?

No. It adds Luck and the usual ability chance calculation remains unchanged.

Does Fury add fallback melee damage?

It adds attack speed and Haste. No separate fallback melee-damage behavior applies.

Why did a timed effect end after desummoning?

The companion's pet-associated statuses are cleared when it is deactivated.

Are all buffs limited to the same stacks?

Ordinary application uses the usual cap, while individual abilities can supply exact stacks or another cap.
