Mythic Mutation
What it is
Keep a level 100 Legendary companion active while online to attempt Mythic Mutation. The attempt happens automatically when its timer fills.
A successful mutation makes the pet Mythic at level 1 and 0 XP and fills its newly available Mythic ability slots. A failed mutation keeps the Legendary pet and restarts that pet’s mutation timer. The next attempt requires building the eligible active-time total again.
Quick facts
- Required level: 100
- Required active time: 4 days 4 hours
- Tracking step: 1 minute
- Mutation chance: 50%
- Successful starting level: 1
- Successful starting XP: 0 XP
- Success XP multiplier: 1.25×
- XP award duration: 1 day
How to start
Finish Legendary Ascension, then level the Legendary companion to 100. Open /pets → Your Pets and activate that pet. Use its pet details and mutation status information to check readiness and accumulated active time. The tracker follows your active eligible Legendary companion, so having one in your collection is not enough while a different pet is summoned.
This mutation path does not require a count of ability activations or a special anti-idle action sequence. It accumulates while you are online with the eligible pet active. Logging off stops further online accumulation, and changing to an ineligible companion stops accumulation for this pet until it is active again.
Steps
The order matters: Legendary rarity, then the required level, then eligible active time. Earlier activity does not replace those requirements.
- Complete the Legendary path for your chosen companion.
- Level that Legendary pet to the required threshold.
- Activate it from Your Pets and keep it as your active companion while online.
- Check its mutation progress instead of trying to spend shards on Mythic.
- Let the timer reach the available active-time threshold.
- Read the automatic success or failure announcement.
- After failure, build active time again. After success, begin leveling the Mythic pet from its new starting level.
Reference
Eligible time is added every 1 minute. Success awards the temporary pet XP bonus below. A failed attempt restarts the timer.

When the timer or roll fails
A Legendary pet below the required level is not ready. A pet in the collection but not active is not the tracking candidate. If you summon a different pet, do not expect this pet’s timer to continue gaining online active time. The normal tracker does not award offline time for hours when the owner is disconnected.
A failed chance roll is an ordinary mutation outcome, not a lost-pet result. The failure message says the mutation did not stabilize and the timer restarted. Keep the same Legendary level-ready pet active to build another cycle. Missing pet details or a save error produces an error message instead of a trustworthy completed mutation. Inspect the pet again before planning around success.
Worked example
Use your level 100 Legendary Pebble Whelp for this example.
Your Legendary pet has reached level 100. You activate it and remain online while the tracker adds 1 minute per update. The target is 4 days 4 hours. At the threshold, the game uses 50% for the automatic mutation attempt.
If that roll fails, the pet remains Legendary and the accumulated mutation time restarts. If it succeeds, the same pet becomes Mythic at level 1 with 0 XP, and you receive 1.25× pet XP for 1 day. The chance applies separately to each completed timer cycle. Waiting a second cycle does not convert the next attempt into a guaranteed success.
Limits and rules
The timer belongs to the individual pet. Owning several Legendary pets does not merge their time into a shared account total. Only the eligible active candidate gains the periodic time addition. Keep your intended mutation companion active if you want a continuous run toward its threshold.
No shard recipe upgrades Epic directly to Mythic. No breeding roll creates a guaranteed Mythic hatch. These are different progression systems. A successful mutation unlocks Mythic progression but resets the pet’s level and XP, so plan another leveling run. The temporary XP reward expires and does not alter the permanent rarity XP requirement. Ordinary ability triggers, cooldowns, and family-meter costs still govern the Mythic abilities afterward.
Your questions
Do I need to click a mutation button at the threshold?
The tracker attempts mutation automatically when an eligible active pet becomes ready.
Does an unsummoned Legendary build time?
No. It must be the active eligible companion.
Does the tracker require ability activations?
This path accumulates eligible active time without an ability-trigger count requirement.
Do offline hours count?
The periodic tracker processes online players with an eligible active pet.
What happens when the roll fails?
The pet stays Legendary and its mutation timer restarts.
Can another Legendary use the first pet’s time?
No. Accumulated time is associated with the individual pet.
Why did success reset the level?
Mythic success begins the pet’s new rarity progression at its starting level and XP.
