Wild Nests and Habitats
What it is
Explore suitable wilderness biomes to find wild nests. Collect a nest’s egg before another player takes it or it disappears.
Nests are shared world objects. The player whose movement created the opportunity does not receive exclusive collection rights. Collect the visible nest promptly instead of treating the announcement as a reserved reward. A successful collection removes that nest and saves its egg to Pet Delivery.
Quick facts
How to start
Open /pets and choose Pets & Family Guide to inspect family habitats before exploring. Use /pets nest list to list nests within 300 blocks in your current world, with family, bearing, and horizontal distance. The hub’s Nest Tracking button separately toggles nearby nest information in your action bar. Keep Pet Delivery available for collecting the egg afterward. You do not need to summon a pet to make a chunk-entry exploration check. Choose an enabled exploration world and travel through wilderness that supports a family.
Incubator habitats and natural nest families share the biome mapping. A hybrid incubator accepts either parent habitat, while natural nests select base families. Read the family page for the egg you receive rather than assuming every nearby biome supports it.
Steps
Use movement and the visible nest together. The random check alone does not guarantee a safe location or a supported family.
- Look up the family habitat in Pets & Family Guide.
- Explore new chunks in an enabled world, away from protected land and the spawn exclusion area.
- When a nest appears, approach the visible egg and right-click it with your main hand.
- Open /pets delivery and collect the family egg.
- Take the egg to your own matching-biome incubator and select an empty slot.
- Return to exploration after your personal discovery cooldown ends.
Reference
The chance is checked on a qualifying chunk entry. A successful random result still needs an available nest allowance, a safe site, and a biome with an enabled family. These conditions explain why a long trip produces uneven discoveries.
| Rule | Amount or requirement |
|---|---|
| Exploration chance | 0.1% |
| Server-wide nest cap | 10 nests |
| Personal discovery cooldown | 30 minutes |
| Nest lifetime | 5 minutes |
| Nearby-player distance | 48 blocks |
| Spawn exclusion | 200 blocks |
| Beacon visibility | 256 blocks |
When discovery or collection fails
A nest cannot appear when wild nests or their egg rewards are switched off. It also cannot appear when the active nest limit is reached, your personal exploration cooldown is running, or the world is outside the nest world list. A successful chance roll with no suitable location produces no nest. Protected regions and protected plots block placement.
The collection interaction rechecks whether the nest still exists and is valid. Expiry, an unloaded chunk, a lack of nearby players, or a newly protected location can remove it. If another player collected it first, the disappeared egg is no longer available. Look in Pet Delivery after a successful collection instead of repeatedly clicking the old spot.
Worked example
Use a Terravore Egg to raise a companion such as Pebble Whelp.
Suppose you enter an eligible wilderness chunk while below the server cap and outside your discovery cooldown. The exploration check uses 0.1%. If it succeeds and a safe supported location is found, a nest appears and your 30 minutes cooldown begins. The nest itself lasts at most 5 minutes. Your cooldown does not reserve that nest, and the nest lifetime does not shorten your cooldown.
You can collect the egg before that lifetime ends, then inspect its family and prepare the correct habitat. A second player can collect the same visible nest first. There is no coin purchase step for collecting a wild nest.
Limits and rules
Do not leave a nest unattended while preparing inventory space. Pet Delivery holds the reward, while the nest can disappear when nobody remains nearby. Chunk unloading removes nests rather than preserving a permanent exploration marker. The natural exploration route runs from chunk movement, so repeatedly opening a menu does not create extra checks.
The natural family pool excludes hybrids. For a hybrid egg obtained by breeding, use either parent habitat when choosing an incubator location. Natural nest availability and incubator ownership are separate rules: wilderness exploration finds eggs, and protected land houses your incubator.
Your questions
Why did entering a chunk produce nothing?
The chance roll can fail, and the location must also pass world, cooldown, cap, protection, safety, and habitat checks.
Can I collect a nest another player discovered?
Yes. A valid main-hand right-click collects a live shared nest. Discovery does not reserve ownership.
Why did a visible nest disappear?
It expires, loses nearby players, unloads with its chunk, or becomes invalid because of protection or feature settings.
Does my active pet determine the nest family?
No. The nest selects an enabled base family supported by the biome.
Where is the egg after collection?
Open Pet Delivery. The egg reward is saved there after successful collection.
Can a hybrid appear as a natural nest family?
Natural nests use base families. Hybrid eggs come from the breeding path.
Does the discovery cooldown stop me collecting an existing nest?
The personal cooldown gates natural spawning opportunities from your exploration, while collection checks the live nest interaction.
Exploration worlds
Wild nests are enabled. The nest exploration worlds are world. Move between chunks in an eligible world and follow the habitat rules above.
